Emerging Gen Workers Workshop
Conversation | | 21st April 2020
Calling all Uniting Church Children’s and Family Workers and Youth Workers! You’re invited to connect and share resources and experiences for emerging generations.
On Monday 4th May, Pulse will be hosting its second Workers with Emerging Gens Workshop!
This online workshop is an opportunity to come together with other Lay Workers in a virtual space to enjoy some discipleship and prayer time, reflection and relational networking. Throughout the course of this workshop, we hope to give you a sense of direction, and help you answer the question – “Where to from here?”
Our last gathering focused on Discipleship with UTC Lecturer Michael Mawson, exploring Prayer Spaces and creating a Children’s space in the Centre For Ministry Chapel!
This upcoming session we will focus on Trauma & Kids and will be joined by 3 amazing guests.
David Goodwin, has been working with Kids in trauma all over the world for over 35 years. His project Kidsreach offers resources to ministry agents working with children to help support those most vulnerable through difficult times. His engagement is simple and effective, sharing his years of experience.
Anthony Rees is the Old Testament Lecturer at UTC. He is committed to finding ways in which sacred texts – formed many ages ago and treasured by communities across centuries – might continue to speak to contemporary struggles. He will be exploring with us how we talk with children about the texts of trauma in the Bible.
Jules Wright works at Wesley Canberra as the Children and Youth Worker. She brings her deep experience as an educator and sociologist to her job. She is exploring how we can engage children and families in spiritual practices online, talking specifically about her journey to the cross experience.
Ofa Foiakau is the Field Officer (Central/West), and responsible for youth/high school ministry as a part of the PULSE team.
